This Thursday Villagers are playing at Rickshaw Stop. They are yet another band on the Domino Records label that I love so much.
Villagers are an Irish band fronted by Conor J. O’Brien. Their debut album Becoming a Jackal was just released on June 8, 2010
Frightened Rabbit is playing at The Fillmore on May 19, but they just announced an acoustic show at the much more intimate Rickshaw Stop for the 18th.

Plushgun is an indie-pop band from Brooklyn. Their debut EP was released at the end of 2008 and their only CD in 2009 . A few of their songs have been playing on MTV programs, Project Runway and other shows. They will be at Rickshaw Stop on May 1st.
Opening up for Plushgun is one of my new favorite San Francisco bands, Music For Animals. I recently saw them at Rickshaw Stop and, led by the charismatic lead singer Jay Martinovich, the music sounded amazing and they put on a very entertaining show. Below is someone’s video from that night. Check earlier post about them for a more official video.

The Local Natives shows are not until June 2nd & 3rd, but it is one of those shows you’ll think is far off, forget to get tickets and next time you look it’s sold out, as many of their shows across the country already are.
Local Natives’ self-funded debut album Gorilla Manor, named for the band’s house in L.A, was just released. They are getting a lot of publicity recently from all of the college newspapers.

Music For Animals is playing this Sunday at Rickshaw Stop. I saw them play at last year’s Rock Make Street Festival and they were outstanding!
Geographer is definitely one of my favorite San Francisco bands! They are having a record release party at Rickshaw Stop on March 11th.

There are so many good shows going on tonight that it is hard to choose, but this one might be at the top of the list.
Indie-pop quartet Foreign Born hail from LA but frontman, Matt Popieluch, and guitarist, Lewis Pesacov, first met a few years earlier in a university piano practice-room at San Francisco State.
One of the three opening bands tonight is the young band from Philadelphia, Free Energy. They are touring with Foreign Born and if you miss them, will also be making a quick stop to play Popscene on Thursday with Dan Black.

The Soft Pack are a band from San Diego. They are opening a few upcoming dates for Phoenix, including the sold out Fillmore show. But two days after, on January 28, they are headlining at Rickshaw Stop for Popscene.
